​Coahoma’s Aiden Bryand and Van Goswick led the Bulldog powerlifting team with gold-medal performances at the 25th Annual Coahoma Powerlifting Invitational held Saturday.
​Bryand secured first place in the 181-pound weight class with a three-lift total of 1,220 pounds. His performance included a 480-pound squat, a 315-pound bench press, and a 425-pound deadlift. Goswick also earned gold in the 220-pound weight class, lifting a total of 1,215 pounds (475 squat, 280 bench, and 460 deadlift).
​In the girls division, Jovi Rye and Evelyn Jordan led the Bulldogettes by earning silver medals in their respective classes. Rye totaled 565 pounds with a 200-pound squat, 125-pound bench, and 240-pound deadlift. Jordan recorded a 555-pound total, including a 220-pound squat, 105-pound bench, and 230-pound deadlift.
​Iris Gaitan and Esela Vasquez secured bronze medals for Coahoma. Gaitan totaled 625 pounds, while Vasquez lifted 730 pounds.
​Overall, the Bulldogs finished fifth out of 11 teams, earning 18 points. Other top performers for the boys included Ethan Harjo, who placed fourth in his class with 885 pounds, and fifth-place finishers Karson Kelso (380 pounds) and Ian Ruiz (600 pounds).
​The Bulldogettes finished sixth out of 11 teams. Other top finishers included Kaeydyn Wegner (350 pounds, fourth), Emma Rodriguez (345 pounds, fifth), Lexi McWilliams (460 pounds, fifth), and Areyanna Loe (660 pounds, fifth).
Next up: ​Coahoma will compete next at the Big Spring Invitational on Jan. 31.
