COLORADO CITY, Texas — The Coahoma High School powerlifting team opened its season Saturday, Jan. 15, with a strong showing at the Colorado High School Invitational, led by a silver-medal performance from freshman Lizzy Mashburn.
Mashburn placed second in the 105 class (unequipped). The first-year lifter recorded a three-lift total of 345 pounds.
Returning Bulldogette powerlifter Kimberly Fortenberry took third place in her first meet of the year, lifting a total of 595 pounds to earn bronze in the 148 class. Emma Rodriguez also reached the podium, finishing third in the 105 class (unequipped) with a total of 335 pounds.
Other top performers for the Bulldogettes included Belle Holleman (485 pounds, unequipped) and Jovi Rye (540 pounds), who both finished fourth in their respective classes. As a team, the Bulldogettes finished sixth with 18 points. San Angelo Lake View captured the girls' team championship.
On the Bulldogs’ side, Ryen Flack (435 pounds, unequipped), Aiden Bryand (1,175 pounds), and Van Goswick (1,145 pounds) led the Bulldogs. Flack and Bryand finished 4th in their respective weight class. Van Goswick placed 5th in the 220 class. Coahoma placed ninth overall in the team standings, while Roscoe Collegiate took first place.
Next Up: Coahoma will host its 25th annual invitational meet this Saturday.
