On Thursday night, the home stands at Bill Easterling Stadium were filled with Coahoma Bulldog fans wearing gold to mark the annual Gold Out fundraiser for childhood cancer research.

This year's efforts raised approximately $3,700. The funds, collected through community donations and the sale of Gold Out T-shirts over the past few weeks, will benefit the non-profit organization Teaming Up.

Teaming Up was established in 2015 by two mothers, Angel Miller and Kelly Pickle, whose own children were impacted by cancer. Their mission is to deliver money directly to pediatric research hospitals in Texas to increase the funding dedicated to childhood cancer research.

This cause is personally meaningful to Bulldogs Head Football Coach Chris Joslin and his wife, CHS Principal Kristen Joslin. Coach Joslin previously worked under Jeff Miller (Angel’s husband) when Miller was the head football coach at Rockdale High School, and witnessed their son, Gunner, win his difficult fight against an aggressive form of bone cancer.

The Joslins brought the Gold Out tradition to Coahoma ISD when they arrived in 2018. Since then, the school has continuously supported the annual drive, raising thousands of dollars to fund critical cancer research.

The success of the Gold Out night reflects Coahoma's consistent annual fundraising efforts, with the collected funds now scheduled for direct transfer to Texas-based pediatric research hospitals via Teaming Up.
