COLORADO CITY — The Coahoma High School Bulldogette powerlifting team collected two gold medals, a sliver, and bronze to finish second at the Colorado High School Invitational on Thursday.

Overall, nine Bulldogettes placed in the top ten to propel Coahoma to the runner-up position out of 12 participating schools.

Last year’s state qualifiers Christian Everett and Nevaeh Kerby placed first and second respectively in the 97 weight class. Everett hoisted a total of 580 pounds of iron, which included 220 on squat, 115 on bench, and 245 on deadlift. Kerby pumped 565 pounds total. She tallied 225 on squat, 115 on bench, and 225 on deadlift. 

Serena Dobbs had an equally impressive start to the season. The CHS senior had a three-lift total of 620 pounds to capture first place in the 114 weight division. She recorded 240 on squat, 135 on bench and 245 on deadlift. Madison Bose and Abigail Bose finished third in the 97s and 105s respectively. M. Bose’s three-lift total was 335 pounds while A. Bose pumped a total of 415.

Next: The Bulldogettes will be back in action on Saturday at their host meet.
