STANTON — The Coahoma big batters rolled up their sleeves and went to work on Friday to lead the Bulldogs to a 14-8 district victory over Stanton on Friday.

Ky Kemper heated up the Coahoma offense by going 4-for-5 at the plate, scoring four runs, earning 5 RBI, and five steals to help lead the Bulldogs to their first district win. Lead off batter Seth Brooks chipped in three RBI, three runs scored, and a triple in the second inning. 

Nick Gonzales went 2-for-4 and scored one run. Billy Starr scored three runs. Billy Bailey and Kobe Cervantes also helped Coahoma’s cause at the plate. Bailey earned 3 RBI and Cervantes tallied 2 RBI. 

Cervantes had a solid performance on the mound to propel Coahoma to victory. He gave up six runs and seven hits over six innings while striking out seven batters. Kemper came in as relief in the seventh inning to close out the game. He allowed two hits and two runs and struck out three batters. 

Next: The Bulldogs (1-1, 9-6)  head to Crane on Friday for a district matchup against the Golden Cranes. The varsity game gets started at 12 p.m. with the JV game to follow.
