CRANE — The Bulldogs went 2-1 at the Crane varsity baseball tournament held this past Thursday through Saturday.

Coahoma won 15-2 against the JV Pecos team and 9-3 against the Kermit Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs dropped a game to Reagan County 5-7. 

Seth Brooks had an outstanding performance for the Bulldogs. He went 9-for-10 at bat for the tournament. The Coahoma High School senior hit two doubles, an in-the-park homer, scored eight runs and had four RBIs. He also stole four bases. 

Ky Kemper was equally impressive for the Bulldogs on offense. He went 6-for-9, tallied five RBIs, scored five runs, and hit one triple over the three-day event. Billy Starr hit a triple, a double, scored six runs and earned two RBIs.

Coahoma’s two wins were led by Kobe Cervantes and Billy Bailey on the mound. Cervantes threw four innings, sacrificing three runs from seven hits, while striking out four in the Bulldogs win over Kermit on Saturday. At the plate, Cervantes went 5-for-9, earned six RBIs, scored one run, and hit two doubles during the tournament. 

Bailey was solid on the mound against the JV Pecos team on Thursday. The freshman Bulldog pitcher surrendered two runs off of two hits and struck out four over four innings. 

Next: Coahoma will return to action after the spring break holiday for their district opener against Reagan County on Tuesday, March 23, at home. The JV game begins at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity match to start at 7 p.m.
