The Bulldogettes quickly put away the Reagan County Lady Owls to earn their first district victory this season on Saturday. Coahoma won in three sets — 25-8, 25-2, 25-5.

Saturday’s game marks the eighth straight win for the Bulldogettes.

“We work really great as a team,” said senior Kenzi Canales, the team’s libero. “It’s a great team. It’s a great year.” 

Julia Cox led the Bulldogettes to the win. The Coahoma High School senior had seven kills, seven digs, and four aces. Seniors MaKynlee Overton and Ashley Romero had six and four kills respectively. Sophomore Zoie Joslin talled 17 assists for the match and junior Madison Rodgers had three aces.

Next, Coahoma heads to Odessa on Tuesday to play against the Compass Academy Lady Cougars in district volleyball action. 

“It’s going to be a tough game, and I’ve told the team there isn’t going to be an easy district game, but we still have to do our job,” Coahoma Head Volleyball Coach Jamie Bonner said. “We have to keep the intensity alive and go in there and play hard.”

Game times on Tuesday are JV Red at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.

Sub varsity games: JV Red won in two sets: 25-12, 25-10; JV White also won in two: 25-22, 25-23.
