ACUFF, Texas — Hunter Chavez posted a top-five performance Saturday to lead the Coahoma High School cross-country team at the Acuff Cotton Field Trot meet.
Chavez crossed the finish line in fifth place out of 137 runners in the 3-mile run, finishing with a time of 16 minutes, 58.61 seconds. Also competing for the Bulldogs were Anthony Foltz (30th, 18:58.67), Karson Kelso (31st, 19:00.90) and Kian Mulkey (57th, 19:58.93).
In the girls division, Thamar De Los Santos had the top time for the Bulldogettes. The freshman clocked 15:00.21 to place 52nd out of 145 competitors on the 2-mile course. Rounding out the Bulldogette runners were Andrea Rochelle (74th, 15:35.48), Daniella Lopez (117th, 17:29.37) and Nevaeh Nairn (131st, 18:44.91).
Next, the CHS cross-country team heads north on Saturday, Sept. 12, to compete at the Lubbock Christian University Chap Invite.
