COLORADO CITY, Texas — Nevaeh Kerby struck gold once again when she won her weight class competition at the Colorado City powerlifting invitational held on Saturday. Overall, the Coahoma High School powerlifting team had a solid outing with four individuals finishing in the top three of their weight class.

Kerby lifted a total of 570 pounds of iron in the 97 weight competition. The Coahoma High School junior recorded 230 on squat, 120 on bench press, and 220 on deadlift. 

Her Bulldogette teammate Addi Hart also had an impressive performance. In her first meet of the year, the sophomore squatted 280, benched 135, and hoisted 280 on deadlift for a total of 695 pounds. She finished third in the 148 class. 

For the Bulldogs, Giancarlo Maldonado and Ayden Rubio opened their season with an outstanding third place finish in their respective weight class. Maldonado recorded 175 on squat, 115 on bench press, and 290 on deadlift for a total of 480 pounds in the 114 class. Rubio squatted 325, benched 190, and hoisted 300 on deadlift for a total of 815 pounds in the 198 class. 

Finishing in the top five of their class were: 4. Ulises Lubo (465), 4. Jaidyn Vineyard (1175), and  5. Myles Richardson (870).

Next: The Coahoma Powerlifting team will compete at their host meet this Saturday.
