Bulldogs and Bulldogettes capture multiple gold medals
COAHOMA, Texas — The Coahoma Junior High eighth grade Bulldogettes track team claimed the overall championship at the District 3-3A Junior High Meet, highlighting a strong showing across all divisions for Coahoma.
The eighth grade girls finished in first place with 162 points ahead of Compass Academy (159) and Crane (157).
Izabelle Cerda and Jocelyn Sheppard led the scoring for Coahoma, tying for fifth-highest individual point totals with 22 points each.
The seventh grade Bulldogettes relay team also reached a significant milestone by going undefeated for the season in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The team is composed of Maleah Hurlburt, Allayna Burrow, Ausiana Jackson, and Madison Chavez. Hurlburt was the division’s top overall athlete of the district match with 40 points, while Jackson followed as the second-highest scorer with 36 points.
On top of the relay sweep, several Bulldogs and Buldogettes earned individual district titles through dominant performances in both running and field events. Hurlburt led the gold medal count with individual wins in the 200-meter dash, long jump, and triple jump. She was joined at the top of the podium by Jackson (400-meter dash) and Natalya Lozano (800-meter run).
In the field, eighth grader Covy Brock took first in the shot put, while eighth grader Travis Mckiski claimed the pole vault title. Seventh grade gold medalists included Travis Callow in the discus and James Strong in the triple jump.
