Youth in wheelchair racing in track meet

Coahoma’s Vance Ott is state bound for track and field to compete against the best athletes in his division.

The three-year Paralympic athlete has the fastest qualifying times in the 100 meter and 400 meter dash, and is third in shot put going into the meet, which will be held on May 8, in Austin. He will compete against the top nine athletes representing schools from Class 1A to 6A.

The Coahoma High School junior repeats as a state qualifier. As a freshman, he competed in all three events at the 2019 UIL state meet. The 2020 track and field season was cut short because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
