SONORA — The Bulldogettes fell to the Sonora Lady Broncos 3-0, (11-25, 23-25, 13-25 ), on Tuesday.

The Dawgettes ran into trouble quickly in the first set after falling behind four points at the start of the game to the Lady Broncos, who had home field advantage. Sonora continued to dominate at the serve line and salted away the match with a seven point run at the end of the set.

With momentum on their side, the Lady Broncos started the second set with a three point run, however, the Dawgettes recovered from their recent loss and two teams began battling for every score. Coahoma had a nice couple of point runs with Senior Kenzi Canales and sophomore Zoie Joslin at the serve line. Senior MaKynlee Overton powered over the ball for three kills helping the team to a seven point lead (20-13).

Set back on their heels, the Lady Broncos, who needed the win to keep themselves in the 5-3A district championship race, rallied to steal away the set.

In the final set, Coahoma went toe-to-toe throughout the first half of the game but the Bulldogettes had a series of setbacks which left Sonora able to take the district win.

Overton led Coahoma in kills (5). Canales had six digs for the match.
