CLYDE — The Bulldogettes fell 1-11 to the Clyde Lady Bulldogs during a windy, freezing Wednesday evening.

Blustery weather and occasional foul balls landing on the field from the neighboring baseball game did not seem to faze the two powerhouse District 5 3-A softball teams as the players focused intently on earning their first district win.

The game started as a pitcher’s duel between Coahoma’s Cassie Grant and Clyde’s Kaitlyn Turner with only one run in over the first three and half innings. Coahoma got the jump on the lead in the first inning after Cailtyn Corley grounded out to Lady Bulldog second baseman Jacie Roberts to bring in Madison Rodgers for the RBI.

In the second inning, Clyde was threatening to score with two runners on base, but C. Grant’s strong arm struck out the next two batters and the third lined out to second baseman Alex Bailey.

It wasn’t until the fourth inning that Clyde overcame the staunch Coahoma defense knocking in two runs and then broke open the game bringing in nine runs over the next two innings.

C. Grant took the loss for the Bulldogettes. She threw 113 pitches and earned 65 strikes over five and two-thirds innings. Corley led Coahoma at bat. She went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
