STANTON – The Coahoma Bulldogettes went 0-2 in the first day of the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic.

2nd Game: Coahoma vs Snyder

Abbie Lopez led the Bulldogettes with 7 points and Cailtyn Corley added 5 more but the team’s effort fell short as Coahoma lost 30-47 against the 4A Snyder Lady Tigers Thursday.

The Lady Tigers were on top after the first half of the game but the Bulldogettes returned from the locker room with determination to erase their 8 point deficit. And they did just that.

Coahoma tied the match by mid-quarter thanks to the efforts of Cassie Grant, Ashley Romero, Jovi Gonzales and Abbie Lopez. However, the Lady Tigers took back the momentum and reestablished their 8-point advantage by the end of the third. Snyder added 14 more points in the fourth while holding Coahoma to just 5.

1st Game: Coahoma vs Big Spring

Caitlyn Corley led Coahoma with 5 points followed by Paige Akins and Abby Lopez with 3 each in the Bulldgottes loss against the 4A Big Spring Lady Steers, 19-46.

The Coahoma girls went head-to-head with the Lady Steers at the start of the game only allowing Big Spring to get a slim 2-point advantage by the end of the first quarter.

By the second, the Lady Steers took control and kept Coahoma to single digits on the scoreboard for the rest of the match.

Big Spring’s Amber Martinez had a game high of 15 points followed by her teammate Tristan Smith with 11. Martinez and Logan Terrazes netted a 3-point goal each.

Next: The Bulldogettes will play their last game in the tournament at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against a yet to be determined opponent.
