Girls playing basketball

The Bulldogettes bounced back from last week’s heartbreaking one point loss in Sonora to defeat Reagan County at home on Tuesday, 53-33.

“We played much better this game,” said Bulldogette Head Basketball Coach Jim Kinnear.  “We were able to work the offense with a little more patience. For the most part, our defense did what it was supposed to do. We need to work on our press and free throws, but other than that, I was pleased with how they played.”

From the outset, Coahoma took control forcing the Lady Owls into the uncomfortable position of having to play catch up throughout the entire match. By the half, the Dawgettes were up 24-10 and put away the game in the fourth quarter when they outscored the Lady Owls 21-13.

MaKynlee Overton had a game high of 23 points scored for Coahoma and  Madison Rodgers had eight. With the win, Coahoma improves to 4-1 in District 5-3A play and stays in the hunt for the championship title.
