The Coahoma ISD Athletic Department will host a signing ceremony on Monday to honor five CHS graduates from the class of 2020 as they commit to play on the collegiate level this fall.

“We are very proud of these young men as they take the next step in their lives, and proud to see that their hard work throughout the years as a Coahoma Bulldog has paid off,” said CISD Athletic Director Chris Joslin.”

A signing ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. at the Bill Easterling Memorial Football Field for the trio of Zack Schneider, Jonathon Schneider, and Keegan Dobbs, who have committed to play for the Hardin-Simmons Cowboy football team this fall, and for Taylor Barnes and Avry Burgans. Barnes will suit up as a Pioneer for the Wayland Baptist University baseball team in 2021, and Burgans will commit to play baseball at TCS Post Grad Academy.

“We planned to hold these ceremonies back in spring, but unfortunately, we had to close the campus in March and for the rest of the academic year because of the pandemic,” Joslin said. “However, we weren’t going to let them go without recognizing that their hard work and effort has paid off.”

The public is welcomed to watch the ceremony, but will not be allowed on the field. Face masks will be required and social distancing should be observed for those attending the event. The public must remain in the stands.

Six CISD athletes from the Class of 2020 have committed to play on the collegiate level. In December of 2019, Cailtyn Corley signed to play basketball at Sul Ross University
