The Bulldogettes bounced back from a disappointing 7-4 loss against Andrews to end the Cross Roads Classic softball tournament with a 4-1-1 record this past weekend.
Coahoma earned solid wins against 4A Monahans (0-4), Hawley (0-4), Wall (0-19), Haskell (0-15), and drew a tie with Eastland (0-0) after the 80-minute tournament time limit ended the game.
Madison Rodgers and MaKynlee Overton led an active Bulldogette offense. Rodgers went 7-for-15 during the three-day tournament and brought in three RBIs, nine runs, and drew four walks.
The Coahoma sophomore and 2019 all-state player also blasted her second home run of the season when she knocked one out of the park off the opening pitch by Andrews Jaycee Morales in the first inning.
Overton hit her second homer of the season in that same inning with a three-RBI dinger off a 1-1 pitch. She went 7-for-13 at bat over six games with five runs, and six RBIs. Overton threw three shut-outs while in the circle and assisted Bulldogette pitcher Christian Everett with two more.
